Up for bid, an unrestored 1969 (built 10/69 and titled as a 70) Alfa Romeo GTV 1750. Not really a barn find, more of a "sitting in the forest" find as no barn was involved. This car is in need of a total restoration and I was told by the previous owner that it has not run in at least 10 years, I suspect that it is longer than that. You are seeing it exactly as I bought it, I have done nothing to it and have cleaned nothing up. The car has significant rust as you can see in the photos as well as the regular issues a one would expect in terms of dents and scratches. One big dent at the B pillar on the passenger side. I have only had the car for a short while and bought it primarily because the opportunity presented itself but I do not have time or the energy for the restoration and would really rather not part it out as I do think that it is retrievable. That being said, if the car does not sell I will likely go that route. The previous owner bought the car in Colorado many years ago. He also replaced the Spica pump with twin Dell'orto and the pump is now missing along with the lines etc. The car will have to be trailered but I will see that it rolls and help you load. Please note, a dolly is not going to cut it due to tires, you will need a trailer or a roll back. The steering box is cracked, the PO says they guy that looked at the car just before I showed up and bought it caused the damage but how I have no idea. No cracks in the glass as far as I can tell but they are dirty, lenses look good but the side markers are sun faded. Floor pan and spare tire well are shot and will require new panels. I'll say that again, floor pan and spare tire well are well rotted, you can see the ground below when looking at them. Front bumper is tweeked, rear bumper looks good. Still has the two piece Euro manifold and twin booster set up. Odometer indicates 39K odd miles with the PO says was correct, unfortunately though when he got the VA title so that I could put it in my name he checked the box indicating that it was NOT actual so that is what the title will read. Doubt that it matters at this point as if the car ever is driven again it will most likely be good as new.
OK, please re-read the description look closely at the photos and then feel free to ask questions. Please also note that while I really like GTVs and Alfas in general and have owned many of them I have not said anything very nice about this car because I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression, it is going to be a big job for someone if they intend to restore it but it would also be great as a donor car or just to keep our other projects company. The best thing that this car has going for it is that it seems to be all there, the above exceptions notwithstanding, and it hasn't been taken apart and left in pieces. The reserve is reasonable and not some pie in the sky number so bid early and often to find out what it is. Car is located in central Virginia near Charlottesville, Monticello and UVA etc.
Thanks and have a great day!
